Rankdawn vs Rankscale: flat price or credit based AI tracking?

Rankdawn vs Rankscale compared: 2026 pricing ($14.99 vs $99/mo), how credits burn per engine, AI engine coverage, GEO audits and the best Rankscale alternative.

By Rankdawn TeamUpdated October 16, 20269 min read

Rankscale is a Vienna based AI visibility platform with over 1,000 active users, most of them agencies and SEO teams. It tracks 17+ AI engines and bills on credits: every prompt you run on every engine burns a fraction of your monthly allowance.

Rankdawn takes the opposite approach. It tracks fewer engines and fewer prompts, on a flat monthly price, and spends its effort on turning each weekly scan into a short list of fixes with the exact text to publish.

This comparison uses Rankscale’s public pricing page as of October 2026, including its own credit costs per engine. We have worked through the math so you can see what each setup really costs.

Tracking volume

How many AI answers each plan collects

One AI answer is one prompt run on one engine. Monthly volume is prompts multiplied by engines multiplied by how often each prompt runs. This is the fairest way to compare plans that bill in very different units.

Honest read: Rankscale’s answer counts are best case figures. They assume every query hits a 0.25 credit engine such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or AI Mode. DeepSeek costs 1 credit and Claude costs 2, so a plan heavy on Claude delivers up to 8x fewer answers. On Rankdawn every engine costs the same, because nothing is metered.

Analysis

The detailed breakdown

How Rankscale credits actually burn

Rankscale publishes its credit costs. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Mode cost 0.25 credits per prompt run. DeepSeek costs 1. Claude costs 2. Pro includes 1,200 credits a month, with unused credits rolling over up to 2x.

Take 20 prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude. Each round costs 20 x (0.25 + 0.25 + 2) = 50 credits. Weekly, that is about 217 credits a month, well inside Pro. Daily, it is about 1,500 credits, which is over Pro’s allowance and pushes you to Pro+ at $229 or to buying top ups. Drop Claude and daily tracking costs only 300 credits.

Credits are fair for agencies, who can give each client exactly the engines they need. For a founder they add a decision to every prompt you add.

Engine coverage: Rankscale wins clearly

Rankscale tracks 17+ engines on every plan, including Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, Grok, DeepSeek and Mistral, plus specific API model versions. Rankdawn tracks three: ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity. If your buyers search on Google first, Rankscale gives you data Rankdawn cannot.

Rankdawn’s bet is that for most software founders, those three engines are where purchase research happens, and that depth on three beats breadth on seventeen when you only have a few hours a week for this work.

Insight versus instruction

Rankscale is a deep research tool. Query fanouts show the hidden searches an engine runs before it answers. Source box analysis shows which domains get cited. Page audits check 200+ factors on any URL. Users regularly praise its data depth and responsive founder led support.

Rankdawn is narrower and more prescriptive. Each weekly scan produces a GEO Score, a list of fixes ranked by impact, and the exact text to publish for each one, with a prompt you can hand to Cursor or Claude. The next scan shows whether it worked. Rankscale’s own recommendation layer, Scout, is still marked beta.

Agencies should pick Rankscale

Growth at $385 includes 50 brand dashboards, white label share links, a REST API, an agency directory listing and lifetime affiliate commissions. Rankdawn has none of this and caps at two sites, so it is not built for client work.

See your own numbers before you pay for anything.

Rankdawn Free scans your site on ChatGPT and Claude, gives you a GEO Score and your first three fixes. No credit card.
